Keep it straight! Unisex T-Shirt by Mental Cramps
River pilots use many techniques to keep their rafts right-side-up in whitewater, but when a new pilot doesn't have time for a master class, one phrase is all they need to remember: "Keep it straight!" The shirt designer learned this firsthand when her pilot fell out of the raft at the top of one of the lengthiest rapids on the Colorado River, leaving her alone to manage. They hadn't rehearsed this scenario, but she remembered the sage advice echoing in her mind, and she focused her efforts on keeping the raft straight (see photo). Hitting any of the rapids' features at an off angle could have easily flipped the boat, but she stayed upright and was able to retrieve the pilot downstream.
This relaxed fit, 100% cotton t-shirt features an original illustration of her pilot and father, David, piloting his raft, the Jean Laurel, hand-drawn by Libby Sterling of Mental Cramps. This shirt is a reminder to align oneself prior to hitting the rapids of life.
